Abstract

As non-source point pollution increases, fragile waterways are in danger of succumbing to algal blooms. This project is created to ensure the safety of water systems. The goal of this project is to create a machine which safely collects algae in compromised water systems. Some of the major challenges of this project are: making the machine watertight, filtering the algae effectively, and creating a system that is economically feasible and ergonomically sound. The goal of this project is to create a buoyant and automated vehicle that will both collect and store algae, thereby helping the ecosystems of waterways threatened by Algal blooms.
